Social self-administration in social insurance is an organizational principle within the statutory social insurance system in Germany. It enables insured persons, pensioners, and employers to participate in the central decision-making processes of the insurance carriers. Within the framework of this self-administration, important decisions are made in areas such as finance, human resources, benefits, organization, and rehabilitation. Representatives of the insured persons and employers participate in the relevant committees to help shape and monitor the social insurance institutions.
